What Does Kappa Phi Kappa Do?
Kappa Phi
Kappa is dedicated to serving the university and
Columbus
community through the many education and family related service
projects that are organized each quarter. Kappa Phi Kappa strives to
make members aware of current issues in education, the teacher
education requirements mandated by the state of
Ohio, as well as the entrance requirements
for the Masters of Education program at The Ohio State University.
Active members have opportunities to gain valuable leadership
experience, as well as build their résumés to make them appealing to
graduate programs and future education careers. Furthermore, Kappa
Phi Kappa strives to foster a sense of friendship, fellowship, and
community through meetings and socials, to help the members build
relationships that extend beyond the walls of the organization.

What Are Benefits of Joining Kappa Phi Kappa?
Community Service
Opportunities:
Kappa Phi Kappa is a dedicated service fraternity. To emphasize
that, each quarter the organization provides numerous opportunities
for community service. A central focus of our organization is
providing members the opportunity to gain tutoring experience
through the Linden
Branch Homework
Help Center.
In the past, our assembly has also participated in major service
projects benefitting Adventures for Wish Kids (Schott-a-Thon), The
American Cancer Society (Relay for Life), and Nationwide Children’s
Hospital (BuckeyeThon). Kappa Phi Kappa also volunteers for the
university’s education and community related service events such as
Go Buckeye Day, Shadow-a-Student Day, and PB&Jam. Additionally, our
chapter fundraises extensively for Adopt-a-Classroom and the
Make-a-Wish Foundation.

Leadership Opportunities:
Kappa Phi Kappa provides the opportunity for its members to enhance
their leadership skills through holding one of the many officer
positions. These positions include: President, Vice President,
Administrator, Secretary, Treasurer, Service Chair, Social Chair,
Initiation Chair, Webmaster, and Historian. General members also
have the chance to vocalize their opinions on chapter matters and be
involved to the maximum extent wished.

Networking Opportunities:
Members of Kappa Phi Kappa have a greater chance at success with the
opportunity to speak to KPK alumni currently in OSU’s Masters of
Education program. Past and present members are very willing to
advise undergraduates and answer questions to prospective M.Ed
candidates.
You will also be able to hear speakers, from a broad spectrum of
education occupations, with whom you will be able to discuss the
many possibilities for your future in the field of education. These
speakers are faculty and staff in the College of Education, current
administrators from area public schools, and teachers from virtually
every grade level and subject area.
Kappa Phi Kappa encourages members to attend social events designed
to allow students to interact. Many times at Ohio State,
undergraduates feel lost when it comes to earning a teaching
license. Meeting other education students in your field can help
make the process seem clearer, and can serve as a resource for
information and understanding. When education students are spread
out throughout the university, it is helpful to know how and where
to reach students like you. Kappa Phi Kappa sponsors social events
each quarter to help members get to know each other and develop
professional and personal relationships.

quarters.
